Dick Close

A panel of seven judges representing the local media and art organizations selected Dick's submission out of  36 entries because it exhibited the characteristics of both Granville Art Affair and the Wine Festival and overall best represented a fun family event.  As the event's Official Poster Artist, Dick has won the $1,000 prize awarded by the Granville Rotary Club for his mixed-media design.  Additionally, he will receive a final printed poster and other retail items featuring his design and a 10' x 10' booth space at Granville Art Affair on June 12 and 13.  

200 limited-edition 22" x 28" posters will be signed by the artist and available for purchase at the event.  The poster will also be used as the official marketing tool advertising the event. 

Two additional posters, one by Tom Markgraf of Granville, Ohio, and the second by twin sisters Doreen Barnhart DeHart and Jeaneen Barnhart of Twinspired Art &Design,  received honorable mentions from the judges.

 About the Artist

Dick Close is a design director at Ionic Communications Group, a brand design firm in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He received his BFA from Miami University and has been a guest speaker at Miami and the Art Academy of Cincinnati.  His designs have won awards from the American Advertising Federation, Art Directors Club of Cincinnati, and Graphic Design USA Magazine.  Dick has recently started painting in watercolor, and his work has been accepted for exhibition at art fairs in Chicago, Ann Arbor, and in Indiana.
